14581412_10155326677368475_6337851219135710268_nSingletrAction are pleased to announce a new project in the offing.

For a while now a dedicated group of riders spearheaded by Richard Plummer have been exploring a way to enhance and formalise the riding in and around Wetherby.

The hope is to signpost waymarked loops of Bridleway, connecting with maintained cycle ways and traffic free routes to Harrogate, and Leeds, and in addition create a skills area in Wetherby itself.

Our Trail Building Days for May 2016!

Evening digsWe are breaking from habit a bit this coming month, as it’s the Tour de Yorkshire. So many of us are going to be on the roadside cheering on some ‘road cyclists’ (it’s a real sport we looked it up) who are out for a ride around our grand county.

So the result of this is we have a choice for you if you’d like to volunteer on May 8th.

May Trailbuilding

May 1st : No digs – TdY
May 8th : Stainburn AND Rawcliffe Bar in York. Both 9:30
May 15th : Dalby Forest : 9:30 (9am for breakfast)
May 22nd : Sutton Bank 9:30 (TBC)

For full details you can see events, on our Facebook page (no account necessary).

Singletraction at Sutton Bank

sutton bank climbSingletraction (STA) has been approached by Gez Marshall the ranger in charge of the trails at Sutton bank (http://www.northyorkmoors.org.uk/visiting/enjoy-outdoors/cycling/sutton-bank) to get involved with trail maintenance and we think it’s a great idea. It puts STA in touch with another major land manager the North Moors National park http://www.northyorkmoors.org.uk and will add another set of skills to the STA armoury low impact, sympathetic maintenance and working with multiple land owners with varying needs and aspirations.

Singletraction AGM & Dalby bike barn frame raffle.

agm-dalbyIt was the Singletraction AGM yesterday were lots of things were discussed, more on that later. But we also picked up a very nice cheque for £230 thanks to the Dalby bike barn frame raffle. Thanks very much guys, the money has been ear marked for new tools at Dalby, namely wheel barrows and drain cleaning kit. Looks like we will be getting muddy again.

Chainless Results

chainless-resultsThe results are in. Congratulations to all involved!

Completely Chainless

And we’re done… What a day, wind – rain – sun – gnar – awesome.

SingletrAction’s 3rd Chainless challenge is over, and wow, what a day, what race. We never tire of seeing how seriously people take it. We promise, you’ll never ride these trails the same again. Nor should you… Chainless IV may well be later this year…

Our unlimited and undying thanks to the Riders (as always you made the event), the marshalls (couldn’t do it without you, literally), trail building volunteers, (there’d be nowhere to do it without you) and our event supporters Stif Cycles, CrossTrax, Squirt Chain Lube, PRO RIDE mountain bike coaching and Chevin Cycles (without you and your prizes it would all end on a damp squib).

Extra thanks to the Hull family who baked the deliciously tasty treats, Forestry Enterprise for letting us build the mental stuff that is Stainburn in the first place and who ever it actually was who invented the bicycle… we owe you!!!

See some more pics after the break! Oh and check out our facebook page for even more images. https://www.facebook.com/SingletrAction

Keep your pride and joy safe this summer.

bikeHey up, with summer well on the way and the glimmer of some awesome riding weather around the corner it may be worth taking a moment to think about bike security.

We have seen a lot of people losing their rides over the past months.

Remember to keep it locked up good and watch it like a hawk while you’re sat in the trail centres eating your all day breakfast 🙂

If you become a victim, please feel free to post a message on our facebook page, you never know we might be able to help.

Light nights, more fun.

Evening digsHi Everyone, as the clocks have changes, the evenings are lighter and spring is in the air we will be restarting our now traditional Week Night Odd Jobs around the trails.

These are typically weekly and will if we’re lucky settle down to a pattern depending on the timetable of regular/would be attendees.

To be kept up to date on these events please do join the SingletrAction Stainburn Trail Crew group if you are not already a member.

The first will be this Thursday. We will be working on the Descent Line where it exits the trees.

Line improvements at Stainburn

stainburn-newlineIt’s official spring is definitely in the air. What a fabulous day up at Stainburn. Well done to Dave, Dave, Tom, Rob and Johnny a great effort to finish the old, new and improved Black climb. We resurfaced 35m of existing trail and completed 25m of new trail
